Deleting your GiddyUpGo account

How to delete your account

Sign in to GiddyUpGo on the web or in the app, then open Settings → Delete your account. The screen shows exactly what is removed and what your barn keeps, and asks you to confirm. Deleting cannot be undone.

Deleting a child's account

A parent or guardian deletes a linked child's account from People → the child → Delete this child's account. A child who has signed in before can also delete their own account from Settings, the same way an adult does. A child who has never signed in can only be deleted by a guardian.

If a child is linked to you and to nobody else, deleting your own account deletes theirs as well. The confirmation screen names those children before you confirm. A child who has another guardian on file is not affected.

What is deleted

  • Your sign-in, so nobody can sign in with it again.
  • Your name, and the email address and mobile number your barn has on file.
  • Your notification settings and any device registered for notifications.
  • Every lesson, waitlist place, show entry, repeating lesson and horse role still ahead of you, which is cancelled.
  • Your name inside the records your barn keeps, so what remains does not say who it was about.

What your barn keeps, and why

A riding barn is a business, and some of what it recorded is its own record rather than yours. It keeps the lessons that were taught and taken, its invoices, payments and balances, and the messages and barn-inbox conversations it holds as a safety record. After a deletion nobody at the barn can open your account or find it in any list — no name, no initial, no entry in a picker — and your name is taken out of the records the app itself wrote.

What people wrote in their own words is kept as they wrote it. GiddyUpGo does not edit messages, lesson notes or notes on a payment, so if somebody typed your name into one of those it stays there. Your email address is removed everywhere the app itself recorded one.

Records held by the services that deliver our email and text messages are outside GiddyUpGo, and copies of the database may survive in encrypted backups for a short period before they age out.

If you cannot sign in

You need to be signed in to delete your own account. If you have lost access, use the sign-in page to set a new password first. If that does not work, email joy.yinjun@gmail.com from the address on the account and we will delete it for you.
